The ninth of ten children, she was born in Sumner, WA on October 10, 1898. Her parents were Frederick Whitworth Spinning and Alma Baker Spinning, Puyallup Valley pioneers. Her grandparents were Dr. Charles Hadley Spinning and Mildred Stewart, Washington Territory pioneers, and William Henry Baker and Sarah Louisa Denny.
Adelyn is survived by the following family members: son Harold LaLonde of Puyallup; grandchildren, Linda (Dean) Stevens of Lynnwood, Mia (Ed) Rozmyn of Seattle, Ron (Sue) Graham, Stew (Wendy) Graham and Bruce (Kris) Graham of Yakima and Tara Bangsberg of Puyallup; great grandchildren, Kim (Jim) Pemberton of Duvall, Geoff and Greg Rozmyn of Seattle, Nicole (Greg) Spangler of Newhall, CA, Julie Graham of Chehalis, Heather, Tim, Barbara, Valerie, Sally, George and Peter Graham of Yakima, Laura (Cahnen) Carnagey of Yakima, John Bangsberg of Puyallup, Carolyn (Mike) Brown of Carmel, IN, and Liz (Brian) Lockley of Denver, CO, and five great-great grandchildren.
Her husband, daughter and stepson preceded her in death.
Adelyn and her husband James Alva "Jake" worked at King's Garden beginning in 1956, where she was the high school secretary. They owned the white house on the corner of 195th & Fremont Ave N., where Adelyn maintained a yard which was the showplace of the neighborhood. For many years, Adelyn was an active member of Esperance Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School and later, a home Bible study.
The family is deeply grateful to the wonderful staff at CRISTA Ministries for many years of loving care.
Services will be held at Esperance Baptist Church on Saturday, May 22nd at 2pm. A private family burial was held at Sumner City Cemetery.
