Phyllis Rae (Hodson) Acuff, 86, passed away on December 8, 2010 at Providence Everett Hospital. Born in Kansas to Joseph and Eva Hodson, Phyllis was the seventh of eight siblings.

She is preceded in death by her parents; five sisters; and brother.

The family moved to the Woodland area above Kamiah, Idaho when she was a little girl before settling in Moscow, Idaho. Phyllis graduated from Moscow High School in 1943. After graduation she worked at the telephone company in Moscow and later at a hospital in Bakersfield, California.

After returning to Moscow she met and married Lewis Walter Acuff in 1946. They moved to Mukilteo, Washington then Marysville, Washington where they raised their family, two sons, Donald and David; and daughter, Luella.

After raising her family Phyllis returned to work at Jansha Tanning Company in Marysville where she retired in 1995.
Phyllis loved her family, especially her grandchildren, who knew their grandma was a very soft touch. She also loved collecting dolls, especially Barbie dolls, and when a stroke forced her to leave her home she wanted assurances that the dolls would be handled appropriately.

Phyllis is survived by her sister, Joy Keuscher; three children, Donald Edward Acuff, David Walter Acuff, and Luella Rae Bergstrom; eight grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 10am, Saturday, Dec 18, 2010 at Schaefer-Shipman Funeral Home in Marysville with viewing prior starting at 9am. Interment will be at the Marysville Cemetery, Marysville, WA. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Children's Hospital, Seattle.
