Grainger County News, May 30, 1996:

"George Nelson Coffey, 75, of St. Cloud, Fla., died Thursday, May 23.

Of the Baptist faith, he was a retired heavy equipment mechanic and a member of Operating Engineers No. 673.

Surviving are his wife, Catherine; sons, George and Duane Eddy Coffey of Florida; daughters, Cheryl Christian of Florida and Martha Hatfield of Georgia; brothers, Lewis Coffey of Morristown and Gene, Hobert, Rufus, and C.A. Coffey, all of Bean Station; sisters, Phyllis Long of Bean Station and Anne Mae Dalton of Thorn Hill; 14 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

Services were held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Mayes Mortuary of Morristown with Rev. J.W. Dalton and Rev. Jeff Dalton officiating.

Burial in Meadow Branch Cemetery in Bean Station."
