John H. Briggs, a former well known resident of this city, died at his home at Brown's Crossing on the interurban line between this city and Jeffersonville. Mr. Briggs was 63 years old and lived in this city for a number of years. For years he held the position of depot master of the joint depot of the Chesapeake & Ohio and Big Four railroads at Preston and Main streets, in Louisville. His wife died several years ago and he is survived by three children, Mrs. T. A. Baker, of Brown's Crossing; William H. Briggs, of Jeffersonville, and John Chester Briggs, who is in the service in the army. - New Albany Daily Ledger 30 Nov 1918
