Hattie's parents were Sophronia Theodosia (Hayes) and Henry Alfred Chadbourne. Hattie was born in Alabama and was working as postmistress in Oxmoor (near Birmingham) when she met Floyd. They married in 1908, lived in Tennessee until 1919, then moved to California. They had four children, 3 of whom survived: Claudine Elizabeth, Pauline Alberta, and Henry Harold. Harold is buried in Etowah, TN.
My mother recalls she, her sister, her brother, and their mother travelingv to California on the train. Floyd must have come earlier. Hattie and Floyd lived in Los Angeles until Floyd retired, about 1948. They moved to Yucaipa and lived there until 1976. Hattie and Floyd then moved to Hillcrest Nursing Home in Claremont, CA where she died. Her ashes are buried in the Babyland section of the Pomona Cemetery.
