Olive Knox, the daughter of Rev. Luther and Mary E. Knox, was born in Buchanan county, Missouri, Dec. 3, 1845. She was the eldest of ten children, four of whom have preceded her. Three brothers and two sisters remain. Charles Knox of Sherman, Texas, Luther Knox of Coyville, Kansas, Joseph Knox of Oregon, Mrs. Mary E. Snyder of Holton and Mrs. Cora Pool of Holton. She was married Jan. 6, 1870, to John C. Snyder who departed this life May 30, 1910. To this union were born two daughters, Mrs. Carrie Ellis of Valley Falls, and Mrs. Gertie Hill of Holton. She leaves six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She united with the M. E. church at an early age, and afterwards became a member of the U. B. church ... She came to Kansas in 1854 settling in Atchison, afterwards coming west to Jackson county. The last ten years of her life were spent in Holton, Kan.
