John Quay Allmond, age 73, Brunswick died Tuesday, November 27, 2001, at the Hospice of the Golden Isles.

He was a native of Montgomery County. He was a resident of Brunswick for 22 years. He attended Brewton-Parker College and owned A & L Wrecking Company. He was a member of the Pine Haven baptist Church, the Moose Lodge and Elks Lodge. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Lessie Memory and Rodney Allmond; a sister, Dealva Frost and a brother, E.R. Allmond, Jr.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley L. Allmond, Brunswick; one daughter and son-in-law, Judy Allmond yount and Jerry Yount, Vidalia; one son, Danny Allmond, Vidalia; two grandchildren, Artie Allmond and Alexandria Yount; one great grandson, Tucker Allmond; two step-sons, Ronnie Williamson, Reidsville, and Deron Williamson, Lyons, one step-daughter, Wanda Daniel, Lyons; one step granddaughter, Jennifer Cloud; one step-great grandson, Christian Jay; one sister-in-law, Claudell Allmond, Vidalia; one brother-in-law, Kermit Frost, Kibbee.

Funeral services were conducted Thursday, November 29, 2001, at 11:00 a.m. in the Pine Haven Baptist Church of Brunswick with Revs. Sammy Chancey and T.J. Barnard officiating. Graveside services were held at 3:30 p.m. in the Allmond Cemetery in Kibbee.

Pallbearers were Al Crosby, Ronnie Carver, Jackie Beaver, Herman Roberson, Billy Branch and Joey Taylor. Honorary pallbearers were all the men and women of Senior Adult Sunday School Class of Pine Haven Baptist Church. Graveside pallbearers were Howard Farrow, Glen Garrett, Bob Webster, Sam McCaw, Jimmy Davis and Steve Mosley.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Cancer Society or a charity of the donor's choice.

Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
