BRACKETT - In this city February 10, 1887, F. B. Brackett aged 68 years 8 months 28 days. Mr. Brackett was born in West Braintree, Vt. was married to Miss Betsey Etta Philbrick, at Newport, N.H. Sept 26, 1847. He came west with his family and effects and settles in River Falls in the fall of 1854. He had two children, a daughter, died here at the tender age of one and one half years, the eldest a son, Mr. F.A. Brackett, is now a resident of Richmond, Va. Mr. Brackett was possessed of a fine physique and great physical power and his sudden death was consequently a source of great astonishment to his friends and the community. In the performance of his duty as City Marshal he was with deputy Bevans placing a refractory prisoner in the city jail and while Mr.Bevans was locking the cell, he heard some little commotion behind him and on turning to learn the cause found Mr. Brackett prostrate on the floor breathing his last. He died without a groan or struggle or any sign of distress and as there was no post mortem the real cause of his death is not known, but is supposed to be either heart disease or the rupturing of a blood vessel in the brain. The deceased was a man of even habits and an upright life, which had made for him a large circle of friends and it is not known that he had an enemy in all the wide circle of his acquaintance.
