Eva Agnes Nixon, 93, of Cleburne and formerly of Clyde, died Monday, August 8, 2011, in Cleburne. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 16, 2011, at Bailey-Howard Funeral Home Chapel in Clyde with Rev. Billy Sellers officiating. Burial will follow in the Clyde Cemetery.
Mrs. Nixon was born October 2, 1917, in Cameron, Texas, to Ernest and Annie Moorman Howard. She was a graduate of Cameron High School. Eva was the widow of Jasper Nixon whom she married in Menard on August 3, 1936. They moved to Clyde from Ballinger in 1953. She was a seamstress for Rita Barber in Abilene for 20 years, retiring in 2000. She moved to Keene, near Cleburne in September, 2007. She was a Baptist.
Mrs. Nixon is survived by two sons, Shane Nixon of Alvarado and Hugh Nixon and wife Carol of Alvarado; one daughter, Sheila Portwood and husband Brian of Joshua; daughter-in-law, Lois Nixon of Weatherford; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jasper Nixon, and one son Phil Nixon.
