OCEANA - Nicholas "Nick" Scott Abbott 28, departed this life Wednesday, August 10, 2011, due to an accidental drowning.

Born February 23, 1983, in Beckley he was the son of Rev. Harrison Abbott and Nancy Grubb-Abbott.

Nick was a 2001, graduate of Oceana High School, a member of Guyandotte Baptist Church, and a coal miner. He loved the outdoors, four wheeling, hunting, fishing, dirt bikes, collecting knives, shooting guns, and being the mountains. But most of all he loved and enjoyed being with his family.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Harrison Abbott (1924-Deceased).

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving and devoted wife, Sabrina Stokes-Abbott of of Oceana; his parents, Rev. Harrison Abbott and Nancy Abbott of Oceana; a brother, Nathan Scott Abbott and wife, Amelia Abbott of Prosperity; maternal grandparents, Ralph Grubb and Lacy Grubb of Oceana; paternal grandmother, Daisy Mae Blankenship-Abbott (B. 1928) of Oceana; mother and father-in-law, Eddie Stokes and Tanya Stokes of Clearfork; brother-in-law, Josh Stokes and wife, Christi of Ohio; two nieces, Rachel and Sara Stokes; several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends; three special dogs, Chloe, Roxy and Ace.

A celebration of Nick's life will be noon Sunday, August 14, 2011, at Guyandotte Baptist Church with his father, Rev. Harrison Abbott and Brother Ron Harvey officiating. Nick will be laid to rest in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny.
