Elijah L Newton was the son of Amza and Sarah Hall Newton. With the exception of four years spent in South Dakota he has spent his entire life in Iowa moving here with his parents when he was two.
He married Nellie Maud Scott September 5, 1894 and they were the parents of two sons; Charlie and Alvin.
His wife died in Dec. 1911. In 1915 he married Myrtle Mercer.
