Wilkesboro - Mr. Wilson Richardson Ballard, age 85, of College Street, Wilkesboro, died Monday, September 25, 2006 at Wilkes Regional Medical Center. Mr. Ballard was born May 22, 1921 in Forsyth County to Charles Gurnie Ballard Sr. and Lillie Mae Richardson Ballard. He was a US Army veteran of WWII and retired from Columbia Gas of Ohio. He was preceded in death by a brother Roscoe L. Ballard.
Surviving are three brothers, Charles Gurnie Ballard Jr. of Mocksville, Joe G. Ballard Sr. of Delaware, Ohio, and Francis G. Ballard of Sneedville, Tennessee.
Graveside services with military rites by the VFW Post 1142 will be held 11:00 o'clock Thursday, September 28, 2006 at Stony Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with the Elder Kevin L. Morgan officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Stony Hill Cemetery Fund, 406 Summit Road, Purlear, NC 28665.
