Verla moved to Ingleside in 1998; prior to that she lived in Loraine, TX, for most of her life. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ in Ingleside. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Harlie, infant son Jimmie Owen, and two brothers.
"She is survived by two sons, Darrell (Teena) Owen of Ingleside and Gerald (Shelia) Owen of San Antonio; five grandchildren, Bucky and Shan Owen, Laurie and Niki Shugart, and Dana Moran; and twelve great-grandchildren, Josh, Trayce, Chanci, Skyler, and Shandon Shugart, Cody, Caty, Rain, River, and Ryder Owen, Quincie and Grayson Moran. Public visitation will be held on Tuesday, 16 Aug from 9 a.m. to noon at the Charlie Marshall Funeral Home in Aransas Pass.
