Vera Alene Rawson, 95, a 10-year resident of Republic, passed away there Monday, Oct. 4, 2010.

Vera, the first of six daughters, was born Feb. 15, 1915, in St. Anthony, Idaho, to Stephen Samuel and Martha Alice Beam Broadhurst.

Vera was raised in southeastern Idaho, where she also attended school. She went to work at the St. Anthony Hospital, where she acquired the training to receive her LPN license. Vera met Worthan Rawson, and fell in love. They were married on Nov. 8, 1934. After a few years of nursing, she became a homemaker, taking care of her family's needs. They lived in Elk River for many years before retiring to Juliaetta.

Vera enjoyed anything to do with crafts, and especially loved showing her artistic abilities in her ceramics and quilting. She also sewed clothes for her children and sisters. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge for many years. Vera will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Vera was preceded in death by her husband, Worthan in 2000; her sons, James Rawson and Sam Rawson; and her daughter, Loujauna Reid.

She is survived by her son; her daughter; her sister; 11 grandchildren; and numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be conducted at the Parker Cemetery in Parker, Idaho. The Danekas Funeral Chapel and Crematory of Colville, Wash., is handling the arrangements.
