Services were held for Maudie Adams, 81, Mabank, May 3, 2007, at Anderson Clayton Bros. Funeral Home Chapel in Kemp, with the Reverends James McWhorter and Michael Isbell officiating. Burial followed in the Forreston Cemetery, Forreston.
Adams was born Maudie Frances Thedford July 18, 1925, in Ferris, the daughter of Elbert Henry Thedford and Annie Pearlee Pogue and died April 30, 2007 at her home in Mabank.
She was affiliated with the Wildwood Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband James Anthony McWhorter, sister Blanche Adams, and brothers Hariel Thedford and Archie Thedford.
Survivors include her husband, Don Adams of Mabank; son James McWhorter and wife Gladys of Mabank; daughter Barsha Whitley and husband Bobby of Mabank; stepchildren David Adams of Palestine; Bruce Adams and wife Jane of Lubbock; Donita Sanders and husband Jerry of Fenton, Mich.; and Jan Swanson and husband Jerald of Lubbock; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; sister Elva Gillentine of Grand Saline; and numerous other relatives and many friends.
Pallbearers were Tony Whitley, Terry Whitley, Tim Whitley, Josh Whitley, Jimmy McWhorter and Brian McWhorter.
