Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday from Seydler-Hill Chapel for James Dalva Allen,who died in the Diagnostic Hospital in Houston at __p.m. Monday.
The Rev. Clyde R. Poldrack and the Rev. George Schultz, Jr., officiated at the set with burial in the Woodman cemetery.
Allen was born in Gonzales county on February 21, 1913, the son of Marvin and Mamie Ware Allen, natives of Gonzales county. At the time of death he was living at Route 1, Cooksville where he was a farmer. He was a member of the Assembly of God. He was married to Mamie May on October 10, 1933.
Survivors are his widow; two daughters, Mrs. Bill (Nelda) Riley of Lafayette, La., Mrs. Billy (Charlotte) Pierce of Houston; four sons, Dalva Ray of Mt. Pleasant, Kenneth of Friendswood, Donald of Lufkin, and Larry Allen of Houston; 13 grandchildren, one great grandchild; two sisters, Mrs. Elmer (Ola Mae) Whiddon of Nixon; Mrs. Joyce McGee of Nixon; and three brothers, Jesse and Walter Allen, both of Center, and the Rev. Elwin Allen of Marlin.
