W. E. (Slick) Vannerson, 60, Olivet Church Road, was pronounced dead on arrival at Western Baptist Hospital at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
Mr. Vannerson was superintendent of maintenance for the McCracken County Board of Education. He was employed by Standard Oil Co. from 1934 until 1955, operating a service station at 4th and Jefferson streets.
Son of the late Robert E. and Annie Vannerson, he was born in Marshall County and had spent his adult life in Paducah.
Mr. Vannerson was an active member of Olivet Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was also a member of Grahamville Masonic Lodge and Concord Lions Club.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Neota Webb Vannerson; a son, Robert Joseph Vannerson of Boaz Rt. 1; a daughter, Mrs. Ruth Ann Rollins of Pensacola, Fla; two brothers, John and Jack Vannerson, both of Paducah, and a grandchild, Robin DeAnn Vannerson.
Funeral services will be held today at 2 p.m. at Lindsey Funeral Chapel with the Rev. David McMichael officiating. Masonic graveside rites will be conducted in Maplelawn Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Ruble Pace, Gerald Adams, Harley Terry, Charlie Kindred, Hubert Bell and Jim Peyton. Deacons of Olivet Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers.
