BIO by: Nita Stolns. Charles was born in New Hampshire on the 11th of March 1842 to the parents of Charles and Ruth Adams. He married Sarah White at the age of 28 and had one child together named after his namesake.


He passed on the 1st of October in the year 1916 at the age of 74 and is buried in Colorado State Vet, Center at Homelake Cemetery in Monte Vista, Rio Grande County, Colorado, USA.


Civil War Veteran - Enlisted on April 27, 1861, age 18, for 3 months; not mustered in; paid by State. Re-enlisted on May 22, 1861, for 3 years, and mustered in on May 31, 1861, into Company A, 2nd Regiment, New Hampshire Infantry (Union). Enlisted Rank: Private.


The 2nd NH regiment was organized at Portsmouth May 31 to June 8, 1861. Moved to Washington, D. C., June 20-23, and duty there till July 16, 1861.


Battles, Skirmishes, and Engagements: Battle of Williamsburg (May 5, 1862); Battle of Gettysburg (July 1-3, 1863); Capture of City Point and Bermuda Hundred (May 5, 1864).


Mustered out on May 28, 1864, at City Point, Virginia.
