CLARKE COUNTY TRIBUNE, JANUARY 5, 1945

CURTIS LAVAUGHN DAVIS, 18, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Davis, Quitman, Rt 1, died at the US Naval Hospital, San Diego, CA. Death was caused by pneumonia. Funeral services conducted from the Pine Grove Baptist Church, Clarke County, 3 p.m., December 29, 1944. Rev. W. L. Meadows, Quitman, officiating, assisted by Rev. John S. Morgan, Stonewall. Interment in church cemetery. Survivors - parents; three sisters, Mrs. Mavis Steele, Doris and Maxie Davis; four brothers, Jack, Ben, Joe and Paul Davis, all of Quitman, Rt. 1; paternal grandmother, Mrs. H. Davis; former student Quitman High School, member US Marine Corps stationed in San Diego.

Active pallbearers, Floyd McCarra, Burnis McCarra, Rufus McCarra, Bobby McKinney, O. H. Holloman, Edward Holloman, members of Terral Masonic Lodge, Quitman, served as honorary pallbearers, McClellan-Walters Funeral Home in charge.
