WINSTON-SALEM — Avery Sylvester Livengood, Jr., 83, a resident of Friendship-Ledford Rd., died Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at the Hospice Home at High Point. He was born on June 26, 1928 in Forsyth County to Avery Sylvester Livengood, Sr. and Irene Bogus Livengood. He worked for 30 years at Salem Steel and most recently with Rex Plastics. He was a member of Midway School Road Baptist Church, where he was a former deacon and greeter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a wife, Bithy Mae George Livengood on January 15, 1996; brother, Paul Livengood; and a son-in-law, Freddie Hughes.

On June 29, 1996, he married Janet Oast, who survives of the home; also surviving are two sons, Jimmy Livengood and wife Tracy and Mike Livengood and wife Sharon, all of Thomasville; daughter, Patsy Hughes of Thomasville; sister, Flora Livengood of Winston-Salem; five grandchildren, Ashley Russell, Jeff Jacobs, Scott Jacobs, Chris Hughes, and Annette Hughes; and six great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2011 at 2 p.m. at Midway School Road Baptist Church with Pastor Robert Walker officiating. Interment will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Livengood will remain at the J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville until taken to the church 30 minutes prior to the service. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of the Piedmont, 1801 Westchester Dr. High Point, NC 27262.
