Amelia "Millie" McCarthy, 82, of 505 Schuyler St. died Saturday at a local nursing home.
She was the widow of William W. McCarthy, who died in 1986.
She was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church and a former
member of its Altar and Rosary Society and the Franciscan Order.
Surviving are four sons, Dr. James of San Diego, Calif., Richard
E., William P. and Michael J. all of Syracuse; two daughters, Betty
Lindsay Hyman of Palmyra and Rita Martin of Cicero; three sisters,
Clara Reitnauer, Rosa Dygert and Agnes Ewald all of Syracuse; four
brothers, Leo Straub of Syracuse, Willard Straub of Davidsonville,
Md., Leonard and Joseph Straub both of Rochester; 17 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be 8:30 a.m. Monday at the Edward J. Ryan & Son
Funeral Home and 9 a.m. in St. Patrick's Church. Burial will be in
Assumption Cemetery.
Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral
home, 1628 W. Genesee St.
