Clarence Bowman of Downingtown
Clarence "Corky" E. Bowman, 79, of Downingtown died Monday, Feb. 4, 2002, at Brandywine Hospital in Caln. He was the widower of Grace Darling Bowman, who died in 1998 and the widower of Anne E. Bowman, who died in 1984. Born in Chester County, he was the son of the late Christopher and Eva Mae Bowman. He had been employed at Croppers' Market in Guthriesville. He also worked for nine years at the Downingtown Thrift Drug and was retired after working 22 years at Ernie Patton Motors. During World War II, he had served with the U.S. Army infantry in the European Theater. He attended Wyebrook Baptist Church in Elverson. A member of the American Legion in Downingtown, he was also a member of the VFW in Downingtown. He is survived by a sister, Ella M. Watson of Honey Brook, and a foster son, Richard Ferguson. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Feb.7, at 1 p.m. at Wentz Funeral Home, 342 E. Chestnut St., in Coatesville. Friends may call at the funeral home from noon to 1 p.m. on Thursday. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery in Coatesville. Memorial contributions may be made in his name c/o Wentz Funeral Home, 342 E. Chestnut St., Coatesville, Pa. 19320.
