Christian H. Hoffman, 91, retired construction and timber worker, died suddenly at his home on Monday. He had been ill health for some time.

Mr. Hoffman was born Sept. 30, 1879, in
Copenhagen, Denmark, the son of Heinrich Ludvig and Christina Anderson Hoffman. When he was three years old, the family came to the United States and lived in Oregon prior to moving to the Upper Snake River Valley.

He married Laura M. Alvey and she later died. He then married Irene VanLouven. She also preceded him in death. He was married to Edna Viola Smith, Feb. 5, 1935, at Boise. Following the marriage the couple lived in Nampa until 1952 when they moved to Idaho Falls.

Mr. Hoffman has been engaged in construction and timber work and in later years had worked in landscape and gardening. For years, until ill health caused his retirement, he had done work at the LDS Temple.

He is survived by his widow; the following sons and daughters: Mrs. Pete (Minnie) McGrew, Meridian, Mrs. Bill (Stella) Bierman, Madras, Ore.; Mrs. Myrtle Allen, Caldwell; virgil Hoffman, Burley; Mrs. Chester (Elva) Haynes, Bakersville, Calif.; Alvin Hoffman, Burley; Mrs. Robert (Phyllis) Strong, Bellany, Okla., and Mrs. Leroy (Delores) Gilbert, Pocatello; 23 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
