John Henry Frederick Feltman, son of John and Johananna Feltman, was born in Broistedt, Germany, on June the 11th, 1948, and died at his home in Etna, June 19, 1915, of apoplexy of the brain, at the age of 67 years and 8 days. In 1852 he, with his parents, immigrated to the United States and settled near Primrose, Lee County, Iowa. In 1860 they moved to Schuyler County. In 1865 at the age of 15 years he came alone to Scotland County, and settled on a farm one and a half miles southeast of Etna, where he grew to manhood. On July 1, 1873, he was united in marriage to Henrietta Belle Morrison. To this union were borne four children, two sons and two daughters, Edward and Clarence of Ft. Benton, Montana and Mesdames Bessie Blattner and Beulah Dye of Etna. He is survived by his wife, four children, nine grandchildren, two brothers, Julius of Kahoka, Missouri and Henry of Etna, besides a host of other relatives and friends who deeply mourn his untimely death. While he never made a profession of religion, he was a firm believer in the one and true God, and was ever ready to lend the helping hand. He was a member of the I. O. O. F. Lodge at Granger and was held in high esteem by that fraternity.

Brother Feltman was a carpenter by trade, but of late years gave his attention to farming. He was a true and loving husband, a kind and indulgent father, a good neighbor and will be the greater missed by those who knew him best.
