The year was 1924. A Tornado blew away lots of homes in Gaston, SC. John and Susanna's (my grandparents) home was hit by this Tornado. Nothing was left but parts of the floors. They were trying to find cover when large hail hit them and made knots on their bodies. A piece of tin from the roof cut John on the face. Grandma's daughter, Mattie Grace Reese Gardner, took them in and cared for them. Meanwhile, another home was built in the same location. Their Sons, Hugh Carroll (Huley) Reese, and daughter in law, Magdaleno (Maggie) Sightler Reese, lived with them. After their death Huley inherited the home. Hugley died in 1974.
