Philippine Insurrection Medal of Honor Recipient. He was born in Austria on 24 May 1886 to Aloisia Albria Kutschker. He served in the United States Navy as an Ordinary Seaman. His Medal of Honor citation reads, "On board the U.S.S. Pampanga, Mount Dajo Jolo, Philippine Islands, 8 March 1906. Serving in the presence of the enemy on this date, Fitz displayed bravery and extraordinary heroism." He married Emma Toepfer, and they had five children. He passed away on February 24, 1945, in Des Moines, Iowa.
