William J. "Bill" Horton, age 91 of North Zulch, passed away on Monday, August 8, 2011 at home. He was born on February 21, 1920 in Lexington, Texas to Clarence & Clara (Crouch) Horton. Bill lived in North Zulch 36 years and previously lived in Lake Jackson. He worked for the Brazosport School District Maintenance Department for over 25 years. He was a member of the Civil Conservation Corps and served in the US Army during World War II. Mr. Horton was a member of the First Baptist Church of North Zulch and was a Baptist Deacon for over 60 years. He was preceded in death by his parents and first wife, Billie Marie Horton. Mr. Horton is survived by his wife, Leta P. Horton; sons, Jerry W. Horton of North Zulch, TX and Terry D. Horton & wife, Cheri of Salida, CO; daughters, Marilyn DeLaro & husband, James of Sugar Land, TX and Arlene Brown & husband, Lewis of North Zulch, TX; eight grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter. Funeral services are set for 10 am, Saturday, August 13, at the First Baptist Church of North Zulch. Rev. Bob Little will officiate. Burial will follow at Willowhole Cemetery.
