Mrs. Henrietta Daniels Harris was born to Ms. Mary Lou Thomas and Mr. J.B. Johnson in Albany, Georgia. She was educated in the local school system and held several jobs during her early adulthood and made a living for herself. 1605 South Jackson Street was her main address even after 40 years and the flood, she always regarded 1605 as her favorite place. She became a member of the Saint Paul Missionary Baptist Church on the Sylvester Road under the Rev. W.W. Woodson later moving her membership closer to home at The Saint Peter's Missionary Baptist Church under Rev.Pouncy and later Rev. J.G. Allen. She served In St. Peter as Usher and President of The Mission Department. If she didnt have a ride, she would walk in 2 or 3 inch heels just to be there at church on time. She was a loved friend and neighbor of the South Jackson street community. Everybody knew Mrs. Henrietta or "Nug" or "Red" as she was often called. Her mother Mrs. Mary Lou Thomas Daniels lived on the next street at 1610 River Road and Mrs. Henrietta went to check on her so often she wore a path thru the wooded area where there was none before. She loved herself some Mrs. Mary Daniels and Irene whom she raised. She loved to fish and would do so as long as somebody said "Lets Go". The meals she would prepare would make a fasting man wanna eat. That world famous cornbread and "Cold Coffee" was popular long before it became acceptable in the stores and coffee shops. She actually started the cold coffee idea long before mainstream America caught on. Although she never got the proper credit. She loved animals and had her beloved Penny, Smokey, Charlie and Sam. Mrs. Henrietta Daniels Harris was married to Mr. Walter Harris until his passing in 1983. She was a happy person who enjoyed entertaining company and offering whatever she had to visitors. On May 14, 2005 loved ones, church members and friends turned out at 1st Mt. Olive Baptist Church to bid her farewell with her pastor Rev J.G. Allen officating. She left behind a legacy that lives on thru the lives she touched. May Heaven smile upon you today. That's what I'm talkin bout. Amen!
