DAVIS, OLGIE I. ROOP - age 103 years, of Knoxville, passed away August 8, 2011 at Shannondale Healthcare Center, Knoxville. Olgie was born June 17, 1908 in the Claxton Community of Anderson County, TN. She was a member of Inskip Baptist Church since 1953, and prior to that, Lonsdale Baptist Church. She taught Sunday School at both churches for many years. Olgie was employed as office receptionist for Drs. Hefley & Hoey for many years, where she made many long-lasting friendships with fellow employees and patients. She was preceded in death by her husband, Loren O. Davis; her parents, G. W. and Bertha (York) Roop; brothers, Delmer, Gaines (Doc) and William Merl Roop; sisters, Ethel Clabough, Edith Fowler and Hazel Reagan; son-in-law, Jesse Beam. Survived by daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Fred Turner; daughter, Sue Beam, both of Knoxville; son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Pat Davis of Dandridge; seven grandchildren, Fred H. Turner, Jr., Connie Turner Underwood, Martin Turner, Betsy Loveday, Robbie Beam, all of Knoxville, Wendy Haas of Kutztown, PA and Jamie Davis of Lititz, PA; twelve great-grandchildren and ten great-great- grandchildren; sister, Mildred Scott of Powell, TN.; brother-in-law, Paul Reagan of Knoxville; numerous nieces and nephews. A special thank you to her faithful caregiver, Tiny Talbott, and the fifth-floor staff at Shannondale Healthcare. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, followed by funeral services at 8:00 p.m. Rev. Mike Segers and Rev. Jim Hefley will officiate. Family and friends will meet at 9:45 a.m. Friday at Lynnhurst Cemetery for an interment service at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Together We Can Fund of Inskip Baptist Church, 4810 Rowan Rd., Knoxville, TN 37912.
