OBITUARY: W. V. 'Spooky' Benton - Wenona - A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Faith Independent Church, Wenona, for William V. "Spooky" Benton Sr., 58, of Wenona, a waterman. He died at the Peninsula General Hospital Medical Center, Salisbury, Saturday, Dec. 24, 1988, of lung cancer. The Rev. Lynwood "Sonny" Benton Jr. of the Faith Independent Church will officiate. Interment will be in the St. Paul's Cemetery, Wenona. Born in Wenona, he was a son of the late Clifton Benton and Ella Shores Benton Daniels. He was a member of the Deal Island-Chance Lions Club and attended the Faith Independent Church. Surviving are his wife, Bobbi L. Benton; his step-father, Frank Daniels, Wenona; seven children, W. Andrew Benton, Wenona, Tpr. William V. Benton Jr., Cambridge, Lee Daniels, Wenona, Ted Daniels, Princess Anne, Joyce Ann White, Wenona, Rose B. Taylor, Pocomoke City, and Jennifer Daniels, Wenona; two brothers, Norman Benton and Tommy Daniels of Wenona; and four sisters, Myrtle Wallace, Kay Daniels, Anna Ruth Curtis, and Joan Townsend, all of Wenona; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the church Wednesday from 1 to 2 p.m. Arrangements are being handled by the Bradshaw and Sons Funeral Home, 306 W. Main St., Crisfield. CORRECTION: The William V. Benton obituary appearing in the Monday, Dec. 26, edition of The Daily Times incorrectly lists Benton as having seven children. He had four children and three stepchildren. His children are sons, William V. Benton Jr. of Salisbury and W. Andrew Benton of Wenona; and daughters, Joyce Ann White of Wenona and Rose B. Taylor of Pocomoke. His stepchildren are Lee Daniels of Wenona, Ted Daniels of Princess Anne, and Jennifer Daniels of Wenona.
