Charles was the son of Charles and Esther (Grubbs) York. In 1938, he married Iva Marie Phenis. He late married Pearl Mae Brooks, his wife at the time of his death. He retired aftger serving 32 years in the U S Army from December 1, 1948, to December 10, 1963, He and Iva were parents of Ervin who passed away as an infant, two additional sons and a daughter.
