The husband was some sort of alleged chiropractor and the wife claimed to cure children with baths of alcohol, and applications of grease and turpentine. The poor child was suffering with bowel issues, and then he had to endure treatment that did nothing to relieve his pain. The couple (Charles and Phillipa Scholl) were charged with practicing without a license, but charges were later dropped. This information appeared in the Edwardsville Intelligencer. A family member of mine was a witness for the Board of Health, as they brought charges against this couple.
Willimann's mother, Annie was also very ill with a sore throat, and was being treated by Mrs. Scholl. Willimann's mother, Annie died in October 1916, and they are both buried at Woodlawn. Annie was so ill, she could not attend Willimann's funeral.
