On account of his health, he resigned as commissioner in January of 1923. He had been ill from paralysis since 1923 and his death was due to that illness.
Had he lived until next Sunday, he would have been 73 years old.
Survived by five daughters - Mrs. E.M. Trammel of Aspermont, Mrs. M.J. Rowan of Breckenridge, Mrs. Ross Jackson of Breckenridge, Mrs. Charles Tidwell of Albany, Mrs. I.O. Dockey of Hamlin; three sons - A.D. McMillan of Olney, J.W. and Charles McMillan of Breckenridge
