Mrs. M. V. Branch, Sr. aged 66, died at a hospital in Grenada Thursday morning at about 6 o'clock. Funeral services were held from the family residence Thursday afternoon at 5 o'clock. Services were conducted by the Rev. E. S. Lewis, Pastor of the Moore Memorial Church. Interment followed in Oakwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Branch succeeds her husband in death only by a little less than four months. Having been in a serious physical condition for the past several months, Mrs. Branch’s condition became critical Monday after she was taken to the Grenada hospital where it was found necessary to remove one of her limbs. Following the operation her condition improved for a few days only to take a turn for the worse Wednesday.
Mrs. Branch had lived in Winona for the past forty years. Before her marriage nearly a half century ago she was Miss Georgia Doss of Alabama. Being the mother of a large family her life was centered around the heartstone where she made a loving and patient mother.
She is survived by five daughters, Mrs. C. F. Woodson of Grenada, Mrs. J. E. Allen, Mrs. Evelyn Holmes, Miss Lyda Branch and Miss Francis Branch of Winona, one son, M. V. Branch, Jr. of Winona and two grandchildren, Francis Louise Holmes and Buddy Allen.
