OBITUARY:
Pioneer of This County
William Luther Moore, 77, lived on one farm for over 42 years
Died Early Monday

The death of William Luther Moore, 77, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Henry Luttrell, 704 Oak Street [Tipton], at 12:25 Monday morning removed from this county another pioneer and a man who lived on one farm just east of Windfall for 42 years. Mr. Moore had been ill for some time, having suffered a heart attack at his home east of Windfall more than two years ago, and since that time had been in ill health. Heart and kidney troubles caused death.
William Luther Moore was born near Southport, June 29, 1856, being one of several children born to James Franklin and Eliza Ann (Mann) Moore, who came to Tipton County more than half a century ago. For 42 years Mr. Moore resided on a farm east of Windfall, being there at the time of his first heart attack.
He was united in marriage to Mrs. Lydia Frances Clem when a young man, and she came with him to Tipton County, where their children were born. The wife died June 30, 1914 [Note: This is wrong. Actual date was June 30, 1925] and is buried in Brookside cemetery at Windfall.
Surviving children are Mrs. Ella Tobin, wife of Chris Tobin, residing northeast of Tipton; Mrs. Lulu Kennedy, residing north of Windfall; Simeon Franklin Moore, residing at Kokomo; Mrs. Bessie Hoover of Sharpsville; Jesse Moore, northeast of Windfall, B[urtram] F[ay] Moore, east of Windfall; and Mrs. Henry Luttrell, residing on Oak Street, at whose home the father died. He is also survived by one sister, Mrs. P. B. Bailey of Southport, 12 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and a large number of friends.
Mr. Moore was for many years a member of the Hazel Dell Friends Church and was a regular attendant at services.
While arrangements had not been fully completed, it was believed services would be held at the Methodist Church in Windfall Wednesday afternoon at l:3O, and burial will be beside the wife in Brookside cemetery at Windfall. The body will lie in state at the daughter's home and friends may call at any time prior to the service.
