Fred G. Lyng, 93, of 401 W. 2nd St., died Friday in McKennan Hospital.
Mr. Lyng was born Dec. 2, 1892, in Dell Rapids. He married Olga Anderson Dec. 28, 1922, in Sioux Falls. Mr. Lyng was a veteran of World War I, serving in the United States Army. He farmed in the Baltic and Dell Rapids area, moving to Sioux Falls in 1938 where he was employed with John Morrell & Co. for 25 years. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW.
His wife died June 11, 1979. A son Kenneth also preceded him in death.
Survivors include two sons: Arlo, Altamonta Springs, Fla.; and Gorden, Winnipeg, Canada; three daughters: Mrs. Doris F. Clark and Mrs. Tom (Marjorie) Kirby, both of Sioux falls; and Mrs. Rocky (Florence) Ippolito, Wichita, Kan.; 17 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; a brother, Alvin, Dell Rapids; and a sister, Mrs. Ike (Elsie Locke, Flandreau.
Services will begin at 10 a.m. Monday in the First Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Hills of Rest Memorial Park with military rites by the VFW.
Visitation will begin at 8 a.m. today at Miller Funeral Home.
