OBITUARY - GRADY STARKEY DIES March 24, 1969 A Collingsworth County native and member of a pioneer family, H. Grady Starkey, 70, died at his home at Quitaque Monday March 24, of an apparent heart attack. He was a brother of Oran Starkey. The son of late Mr. and Mrs. T. B. Starkey among the earliest settlers of the Plymouth area, he was born there November 7, 1898, and attended school. When he was 13, the family moved to Wellington where he completed his education. He was married to Miss Henrietta Smith, also of Wellington, in 1919. She died in 1934 (Other records say 1938). Mr. Starkey began work for the West Texas Utilities Company here, then was transferred to Shamrock. He moved to Quitaque 37 years ago and was WTU manager until he retired. He was married to Miss Dora Jameson November 7, 1942 at Matador. He was a Methodist. Funeral services were conducted at Quitaque United Methodist Church Wednesday and burial was in Rest Haven Cemetery, Quitaque. Survivors are his wife; a daughter and two sons, Mrs. Peggy Smith and James Starkey of Plainview, and Weldon Starkey of Burleson. Other survivors are the brother, Oran Starkey of Wellington; and five sisters: Mrs. J. W. Brooks of Abernathy; Mrs. Henry (Mabel) Brown of Greenville, Texas; Mrs. Frances (Ed) Morgan and Mrs. Roy (Rose) Stenson of Perryton; and Mrs. Bill (Tommie) Boston of Goodnight, Texas. There are six grandchildren.
