Carolyn M. DiSalvatore was born in Hartsville, South Carolina, on April 2, 1935 to Wheeler and Bertha McLendon. She left to be with her heavenly Father on Monday, August 1, 2011, in Oklahoma City. Carolyn was one of six children, including her twin brother, Carol. Raised on a farm in Bishopville, South Carolina, Carolyn left home soon after high school to attend the Tuomey School of Nursing in Sumter, South Carolina. She became a registered nurse in 1956. As an Air Force wife, she traveled and worked at numerous hospitals across the United States, while raising 3 sons. Carolyn loved her profession, travel, collecting and most of all cooking. Carolyn will be remembered for her many accomplishments, particularly her grit and determination to overcome the many health problems with which she was dealt. But mostly, she will be remembered for her laugh. If something was worth laughing about, it deserved a good 2-minute, non-stop chuckle. She was a member of Eastern Avenue Church in Moore, Oklahoma, for over 35 years. Carolyn was dearly loved and will be missed by her son, Roger DiSalvatore, his wife Marilyn; her son, Dr. Greg DiSalvatore, his wife Sandy; and her son, Jeff DiSalvatore and his wife Cherri. She adored her grandchildren: Shay, Dylan, India, Kathryn, Rachel, Elizabeth, Carly, Vann, Caroline and Ella. Memorial donations may be made to Lupus Foundation of America, Oklahoma Chapter, 3017 N. Stiles, Ste. 107-3, Oklahoma City, OK 73105. Services were held Saturday, Aug. 6, 2011, at Vondel Smith & Sons South Lakes Chapel. Interment followed at Heritage Burial Park at South Lakes.
