Allen served in Company H/26th Mississippi Infantry Regiment, Confederate States of America. He was wounded in action or sick from disease at Fort Donelson and he was brought to Clarksville, TN to the Clarksville Female Academy where he died. He was placed in a mass grave behind the school. He may lie in Riverview Cemetery or may lie underneath The Confederate Soldiers Memorial Bridge in Clarksville.
