Mrs. Iva Emert Gillespie, a daughter of Andrew and Elizabeth Emert, who was born at Beaver Valley in Hickory township 49 years ago but spent her girlhood days with her parents on Whig Hill, died early Sunday morning at the Hamburg state sanitarium, where she had been an uncomplaining sufferer since early last fall.
At the age of 18 years she became the wife of Frederick Gillespie, and they made their home at Kellettville and later on Whig Hill, until his death which occurred four years ago in September. Since that time she has resided with her children in Erie.
She was a member of the Erie Episcopalian church, and we are informed was fully resigned and amply prepared to be trasferred to her heavenly home at the call of the Master.
She was the mother of seven children, five of whom, with her devoted mother, survive: Linus of Sheffield; Albert, in West Virginia; Mrs. David Elder, Whig Hill; Mrs. Catherine Dean, Chicago, IL.; and Miss Anna Gillespie, Gerry Home, NY.
Rev. John C. Porter will conduct funeral services in her memory in the Tionesta Presbyterian Church at 2:30 Thursday afternoon, followed by the interment in Riverside Cemetery.
