Anna Maria Risler Streit was born in Bern, Switzerland on April 4, 1838. She passed away from injuries received when a cyclone struck her home in Southwestern Wilbarger County on July 18, 1883. Mrs. Streit came to the United States from her homeland in Switzerland in 1882 as she and her husband wanted to give their 6 sons greater opportunities. She married Christian Streit and 6 sons were born to their union, Charles, Fred, Albert, Alex, Godfrey and Rudolph. All of the boys except Charles, who immigrated to Canada, stayed in Southwestern Wilbarger County to farm in the Streit Community.
