Elmer A. Krohn, 88, of rural Herman, died Friday, Feb. 10, 2006, at the Hooper Care Center in Hooper.

Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church of rural Hooper. Interment will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation began Monday, but will also be held at the church one hour prior to services.

Elmer A Krohn was born Nov. 27, 1917, in Washington County, near Herman, to E. Emil and M. Louise (Wittmann) Krohn. He grew up on the farm, attending the Bell Center School and Immanuel Lutheran School. He began working as a carpenter, then turned to farming when two of his brothers left for military service. He farmed with his father, and later with a son.

He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of rural Hooper, where he had held most of the church offices, as well as being a member of the Lutheran Laymen’s League. He was baptized, confirmed, and married at Immanuel Lutheran. He also served as the secretary/treasurer of the Hooper-Winslow Fire Department for 50 years.

On Nov. 14, 1943, he married Lois Panning. Throughout his life, he enjoyed fishing, camping and playing cards with his friends and family.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Herold; sister-in-law, Betty Krohn; and two brothers-in-law, Clyde Panning and Howard Moll.

Memorials are suggested to the Immanuel Lutheran Church and the American Parkinson Association.
