Nera Beatrice Vicknair Rodriguez
(February 12, 1927 - August 5, 2011)

Nera V. Rodriguez, a resident and native of Plaquemine, died Friday, August 5, 2011 at the age of 84 at 9:40 p.m. surrounded by her family and friends. She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, A.J. Rodriguez; two daughters, Denny and husband Michael Marino, Julie and husband Henry Berthelot Jr.; one son, Tommy and wife Linda LeBlanc Rodriguez all of Plaquemine; three grandchildren, Jason and wife Ashley Morales Marino of Addis, Randy and wife Jeri Saldani Rodriguez of Plaquemine, and Jaylyn Berthelot of Lafayette. She is also survived by her six great grandchildren, Hayden and Lane Marino, of Addis, Samantha Morales and boyfriend Zane Hebert, Micheal, Nathan, and Evan Rodriguez all of Plaquemine; one sister, Gloria Hebert and one brother, V.J. and wife Carolyn Vicknair all of Plaquemine; two godchildren, Suzanne Schultz of Central and Arlene Seneca of White Castle and numerous nieces and nephews. Visiting will be at Wilbert Funeral Home in Plaquemine on Sunday, 5 to 9 p.m. and again on Monday from 8 until 10:15 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church celebrated by Rev. Cleo Milano and Deacon Alfred Ricard. Burial to follow in Grace Memorial Park. She is preceded in death by her parents, Vives and ReElla Brown Vicknair, in-laws, A.P. and Helen Rodriguez, grandson, Scott Jude Marino, sister, Mary Helen Quatrevingt; her godchild, Frances Slayton; brother-in-law, Jimmy Hebert. The family would like to thank the workers at Comfort Care Hospice, Dr. Michael Green, her sitters, Sonja Pierre and Edna Dunn. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Jason Marino and Randy Rodriguez, her nephews, Dennis, Bryan and James Hebert and her great grandson Hayden Marino. Honorary pallbearers will be her four great grandsons Lane Marino, Michael, Nathan and Evan Rodriguez. Memorial donations may be made to Comfort Care Hospice.
