George is the son of John Ricks and Ann Atkinson. He married Sarah Elizabeth Vick on 23 Feb 1844 in Nash County, NC

A George Ricks is listed as a Captain, 20 March [18]62 [date of commission, inserted above], of the 32 Regiment, Nash County, 8th Brigade. David A.S. Ricks, which I feel sure is supposed to be David A.T. and the initial has been mis-transcribed, is listed as a 2nd Lieutenant of the same, 1st District, 12 April [18]61 [date of commission]. In addition are the following entries:

“AG to Capt G Ricks, Nashville, NC. 19 May 1862. Received your letter of 16th inst. The persons who would not attend any muster ‘…should be tried by a Court Martial and punished.’”
