She was the first "Elsie the Cow," the one whose friendliness and big brown eyes had won the hearts of millions, and at one time the most recognized and beloved advertising symbol in the world. A headstone is located next to a small gazebo down by a pond on the farm grounds, but it is only a cenotaph. The actual grave was lost to the development of nearby townhouses.
