Robert J. Bridges

Robert J. Bridges, 51, died Sunday, Aug. 9, 1999, at his residence in Indianapolis.

He was born May 2, 1948, in Indianapolis. His mother is Elza (Polfliet) Bridges. He married Cathy (Hamilton) Bridges. She survives. Other survivors include a son, Robert E. Bridges; a stepdaughter, Angela C. York; a brother Robert E. Bridges; a sister, Linda Smith; and two stepgrandchildren.

He was employed as a firefighter for the Speedway Fire Department for 23 years, retiring in 1998.

He was a member of VFW 98 and American Legion 500.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War.

A service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Flanner and Buchanan Speedway Chapel. Friends may call from noon until service time Wednesday.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
