He married Mary Swartz about 1757 in Germany. Their first child, Frederick was born in German during 1758. Frederick later died in Highland County, Ohio during 1839.
Dewalt's family immigrated to Lebanon County, Pennsylvania during Oct 1770 at the age of 36 aboard the ship "Menerva". They had two more children born here in Pennsylvania they named: Johann Heinrich b.1773 and Catherine Bish b.1775.
In 1776 they sold their land and moved to Rockingham County, Virginia. Their last child, Peter Bish was born there in Virginia.
Dewalt and Mary are thought to be resting now in unmarked graves in the Bish Family Cemetery in Pulaski County, VA. This is a small secluded family cemetery left alone for over a 100 years. It was located on the hill behind their family barn. Many stones and slabs and encircled by small trees and stone barrier.
This cemetery is on private property, inaccessible to the public. It is now located in woods and traveled by cows. The gravestone for Phebe is the only stone in the cemetery that has name on it.
