Obit from the Normangee Star Vol. XXVI No 45 September 22, 1938

John D. Washburn, living near Flynn died at his home Monday afternoon, after a short illness. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church at Flynn, Tuesday afternoon, and he was buried in the Evans Chapel cemetery, Rev. J. B. Davis conducting the services.
Mr. Washburn had been a resident of this country for many years, and was considered one of the best men we had in this part of the country. He leaves his wife and two sons. Also one brother and five sisters. His wife was Miss Vesta House.
The Star man feels something of a personal loss in the home going of this good man. He has been for many long years on our list of constant readers, who always was careful to keep his subscription dues cared for. We thought a whole lot of this splendid man, and join with his family in weeping over his untimely departure.
