Newton then married Susan Sickler sometime before 1885. They had 11 children during their marriage, born in the following order; Thomas Marion, Joseph William, Grace Mabel, Emery Newton, Walter Martin, Pearl Susannah, James David, John Fredrick, Floyd Ernest, Oliver Ellsworth, and George Alfred.
