Miles Clark is in Smith County, Kansas, in 1895, age 11, with Herbert 50 and Rosa 46. Mary is 19, Bessie 15, Carl 12.

He's with his parents in 1900 Smith County, born November 1883 in Kansas.

Miles, Mary, and their son, Tex, moved from Smith County, Kansas on March 4, 1910 to their homestead five miles southeast of Bryant, Colorado. They constructed a dugout for their house. Later, they placed a tar-papered shack over the dugout shelter. Shortly later, they constructed a sod house and lived in it for a number of years. It had a dirt floor, which was later replaced with lap-siding or ship-lap. When the ship-lap dried out, it left cracks in the floor.

Six children were born on this same homestead: Randall, Ruth, Dale, Norman, Vieta, and Marie.

Miles helped to organize the first grade school in the area and served on the school board for more than 25 continuous years. Later, he was one of the Farmers Union Charter members of the Bryant Farmers Union. He also served as president of the Bryant Federal Land Bank as a loan official.
